Sonamarg to Naranag Trek Itinerary for Solo trekkers
The trek starts from Sonamarg but it can be done the other way round from Naranag too.The Natural route is from Sonamarg to Naranag. The next destination after sutkadi is Nichnai valley below the Nichnai pass.
The next day Involves crossing Nichanni Pass before descending gradually to the lake of Vishansar and Krishnasar. After resting for some time, and crossing the two striking lakes , the trail leads upwards to gadsar lake. There is an option to either camp at Vishansar or near Gadsar it depends on your trekking speed and preferences but the views around Vishansar are Majestic.
Next phase involves camping around satsar lake, which is enough to captivate your senses for a day, from satsar you can either take the left flank of the mountains over the ridge line towards Gangabal or take the lower right valley after the satsar lake to reach Zaji Gali. The route is over rocky terrain but the hard trail is quickly forgotten . the zaji trail offers superior views of both Gangabal and Nundkol lakes with Harmukh mountain in background.
Camping along the banks of the gangabal or the Nundkol lake is highly recommended before the last stage which includes a steep descent through the coniferous forests to the ruins of an ancient temple at Naranag.
